Oldest son of
Flennoy Elgar Fite and his wife
Ethel Newman, was born May 5, 1900, in La LUZ, N. M.. He
graduated from High School at Hope, N. M., and attended N. M. A. & M.
College, where he was a member of the S. A. T. C. during World War 1.
He went to Fresno, Calif., where he was married Dec. 24, 1926, to
Iona Blanche Kirkpatrick. Blanche was born in Milburn, Ky.,
Aug.17, 1904. Clarence was engaged in the oil business until he was
hospitalized because of proor health. Clarence and Blanche have one
child,

William Hanson Fite (

Ethel Newman, was born July 3, 1901, in La Luz, N. M. He graduated
from the Hope, N. M. High School and attended N. Mex. A. and M. College.
Hanson has had quite a varied experience; after leaving college he worked
for a few years with his father on the farm, then went to Santa Rita where
he was locomotive engineer in the large placer mines for several years; from
there he went to the oil fields in northern N. Mex., west Texas and in
Calif.. From Calif. he went north to Bremerton, Washington, and bought a
home. His wife and daughter lived there while Hanson went to Alaska with the
West Construction Co., where he spent five years during World War 11
installing power plants for the Alaska Department of Army Engineers in
different parts of Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. While in this service he
held the rank of Colonel. Since the war he has been employed in the
installation of hydroelectric dams and power plants in the northwest. Hanson
was married to
Eunice Virginia Flemming, May 29, 1933. Eunice was born at Bent, N.
M., June 1, 1912. Hanson and Eunice have one child,
- Melba June, who was born at Carlsbad, N. M., Apr. 25, 1936.

Son of Flennoy Elgar Fite and his wife
Ethel Newman, was born Feb. 15, 1904, at La Luz, N. M.. Fred
graduated from the Hope, N. M., High School and went to California where he
was married Aug. 11, 1924, to Alta Alice Warner in Baja California, Mexico.
Alta was born in Lincoln, Neb., Apr. 18, 1904. Fred and Alta had one child,
Ruth Evelyn, born July 117, 1926, in Downey, Calif. Fred was married, for a
second time, to
Florence Lucille Hitch, Nov. 11, 1945 in Long
Beach, Calif. Lucille was born in Columbus, Ohio, March 31,1911. Lucille has
one daughter by a former marriage, Lee Ann Carruthers, born Oct. 24, 1935,
at Long Beach, Calif.Fred D. Fite has worked
for the Texas Oil Co. of Calif. since 1926, except for the time he spent in
Military Service. He was granted Military leave Oct. 26, 1942 when he
enlisted in the U. S. Navy " Seabees ", Battalion 84, Co. A, Shipfitter
First Class under commanders: Chester P. Schrepferman, William H. Alexander,
Roper F. Neal and others. He had various assignments in Australia, New
Guinea, and landings at Moratair Island, Dutch East Indies and Palawan
Island; Leyte and Manila in the Philippines; Okinawa and others. He was
awarded the Bronze Star for the Pacific Asiatic Theater and the Philippines
Liberation Campaigns. He was granted honorable discharge Nov. 2, 1945, and
resumed employment with the Texas Oil Company where he is presently employed
as assistant chief oil dispatcher, Pacific Coast Division.

Ruth Evelyn Fite (

Alta Alice Warner, was born July 17, 1926 in Downey, Calif.. She was
married in Santa Monica, Calif., Aug. 29, 1945, to
Craig C. Allen. Craig was born in Hollywood, Calif., Jan. 21, 1926.
Craig and Ruth Evelyn have two children; Cheryl Catherine, born July 9,
1947, in Santa Monica, Calif., and Douglas Michael, born Jan. 19, 1949 in
Santa Monica, Calif.. Craig C. Allen worked for the 20th Century Fox Studios
as color mixer, and is a student in the University of Southern Calif.,
majoring in advertising and marketing. He served with the Army Air Corps
from Feb. 1944 to Nov. 1945 and was discharged Nov. 3, 1945.

Elgar went to Long Beach, Calif., where he was married Dec. 26,1.933 to
Lucille Winifred Kerr. Lucille was born May 22, 1914, in Long Beach,
Calif.. Elgar worked from 1928 to 1943 for the Texas Oil Co. of Calif. and
from 1943 to the present time for the Waldrip Engineering Company, as
foreman in charge of chemical and heat treatment of steel. Elgar and Lucille
have two children:

July 10, 1929, at Hope, N. M.. Ernest Fleming was born Jan. 11, 1908, at
Wright, N. M.. Ernest has worked as a driller for an oil company practica11y
ever since he was married. Ernest and Clara Mae have one child:

William Ernest Fleming Jr., was attending the University of N. Mex.,
when he was married to Loreta Amelia Webb at Artesia, N. M., Dec. 26, 19.
Loreta was born Apr. 28, 1930 at Wetunka, Okla.. "Billie" works with his
father drilling oil wells.

Clara Mae Fite (
Flennoy, William, Thomas, David, Leonard, Johannes ) Daughter
of
Flennoy Elgar Fite and his wife,
Ethel Newman, was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Hope N. M. She graduated
from the Hope High School, and was married to
William Ernest Fleming, July 10, 1929, at Hope, N. M. in the Fite
family living room in Hope.
Ernest Fleming, "Jelly", was born Jan. 11, 1908,
at Wright, N. M.. Ernest worked for his father on his father's ranch in
Pinon, N.M., then later as a tool dresser and driller for an oil company
shortly after he and Clara Mae married. During the time Ernest was a tool
dresser and driller, Clara Mae worked as a waitress and then for many years
as a salesperson in the J.C. Penney store and tailor for both the store and
on her own in Artesia, N.M. After Ernest was injured in an oil field
accident, he and Clara Mae moved to the Washington Ranch between Whites
City, N.M. and Pine Springs, T.X. where they managed the ranch for several
years. They moved back to Artesia in 1979 and now Clara Mae lives in
Artesia. Though widowed and in her 90s, she lives in her own home and has a
full life gardening, enjoying her flowers and trees, and reading. Ernest
died of a stroke in 1985, a few months after the death of Ernest and Clara
Mae's only son. Ernest and Clara Mae had one child,
William Ernest Fleming, Jr., born Apr. 24, 1930, in Carlsbad, N. M.
William, affectionately called "Billie" by family and "Buck" by friends and
co-workers, was attending the University of N. Mex., when he married Loreta
Amelia Webb, his high school sweetheart, in Artesia, N. M., Dec. 26, 1948.
Loreta was born Apr. 28, 1930 at Wetumka, O.K. "Bill" worked with his father
drilling oil wells then went on to have a successful career in seismology
with two companies in Texas till he died in Midland, Texas, in 1984. He's
buried near the grave of his father and other members of the Fleming family.
Bill and Loreta had two children,
Russell Lee Fleming, "Rusty", born Feb. 22, 1950, in Carlsbad, N.M.
Beverly Anne Fleming, born March 5, 1953, in Kermit, T.X..
Rusty works
as a land lease agent in the valley of Texas and Beverly works as a website
editor in Artesia, NM. Rusty has two sons,

- Jackson Colter Fleming, born July 12, 1979.
William La Bronc, "Bronc", manages a successful Boehr goat ranch in San
Angelo, T.X., and Jackson Colter, "Colt", works for his stepfather near
Snyder, T.X. Beverly has one son,

Ethel Newman was born Jan.
20, 1914 in Hope, N. M.. She graduated from the N.M. A. & M.
College in the spring of 1935, majoring in Home Economics. After
teaching in the El Rito Junior College for one year Effie was
married June 8, 1936, to
Denton Harper
Simms, in Albuquerque, N. M.. Harper Simms was born Dec.
21, 1912 in Alamogordo, N. M.. He graduated from the University
of Missouri in 1934 with a major in Journalism. Harper is chief
of the "Division of Information, Regional Office, U. S. Soil
Conservation Service," Albuquerque, N. M., where he has worked
ever since finishing school except for the time spent in the
Navy in World War II. He was commissioned Lt.(jg) U. S. Naval
Reserve Dec. 22, 1943. Harper trained as naval communicator; was
assigned to Commander Cruiser Division 1 as staff officer;
reported aboard light cruiser USS Richmond Sept. 27, 1944.
Served under Admirals John L. McCrea and J. H. Brown Jr., taking
part in twelve missions against Japanese forces in the Kurile
Islands. He was promoted to Lieutenant July 3, 1945. Returned,
to U. S. October 1945. Released to inactive duty Mar. 7, 1946.
Harper Simms and Effie Myrtle Fite have two children;

William Thomas Fite (
William, Thomas, David, Leonard, Johannes )
Second son ofWilliam
Monroe Fite and his wife Lucy Jane Elgar,
was born Mar. 31, 1878 in Young County, Texas. He came to N. M. with his
parents in 1886 and lived on the farm until after the death of his mother.
He then worked with cattle most of the time until his marriage, Sept. 17,
1903, to Ann M. Whittington, in Cloudcroft, N.
M.. Ann was born May 28, I885 in Grandview, Tex. After Tom was married he
owned a farm and cattle in Cox Canyon, Otero County, N. M.. He and Ann now
live on a farm in California.
